I'm a sucker for kitchen tools. So when Hamilton Beach offered to send me a breakfast sandwich maker to try out, I was eager to give it a whirl. See, in my house, we go through breakfast sandwiches like crazy so if this little appliance can help me out, I wanted to have one.
Ok, so let me stop you right now before you say "Oh but Kerri, it can only make breakfast sandwiches, it's a one use tool." Au contraire dear reader. Because I made a dessert grilled cheese with it the other day. And let me tell you, OMG. They were a huge hit with the kids. Check out the recipe and you'll see why.
Thanks to our Costco membership, we don't spend a ton of money on the breakfast sandwiches that Alan takes to work each day, but we spend enough. And when you start thinking about all the preservatives in them, it's a little gross. I needed to find a solution to all that. Like making my own breakfast sandwiches.
But the problem lies in this - who has time for that? We live in a busy household. Three kids 5 and under. Two are in school.
The Breakfast Sandwich Maker
Let's just talk about the basic breakfast sandwich. It's generally an english muffin, some sort of meat, an egg and some cheese right? Would you believe that after preheating your breakfast sandwich maker that in five minutes or less, your perfectly assembled breakfast sandwich is ready to eat? A delicious sandwich with your hand selected ingredients. Which means a fresh egg, fresh meat, the cheese of your choice - you don't even have to choose an english muffin!
I will admit, at first I was like how the heck is this going to perfectly cook an egg in 5 minutes - and it's likely some sort of voodoo science (hehe) but it really does work! Really!
And of course, not that we have a dishwasher YET but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that all of the removable parts on the sandwich maker are dishwasher safe. How fantastic is that?!?!
Hamilton Beach has endless recipe ideas for their Breakfast Sandwich Maker, and I know as we go into fall we're going to be experimenting with them to find easy meals - I'm hoping the kids will like making their own sandwiches - especially if they can control what they put in it. I think it's going to be our favorite before school AND after school snack!
Next up - waffle sandwiches! Ohhhhhhh!
What kind of sandwich would you make?
