This is a fashionista opportunity. I received a new little black dress, my Knot Your Mother’s Dress to facilitate this post.

If there is anything I’ve learned, it’s that the perfect wardrobe is built around a little black dress. My wardrobe actually contains several black dresses. Ok, many. I’ll be honest. But what I’ve found is with the right accessories they are an amazing staple.

The thing is, it’s not practical to run around with kids while looking like Audrey Hepburn. I need something a little more practical and comfortable. A recent addition to my closet is my “Knot Your Mother’s Dress” from Monroe and Main. This rayon/spandex empire waist dress with a flowy skirt is extremely flattering and comfortable to wear.

And it’s versatile. With a capital V.

Here’s the dress before I added anything to it – for you, my lovely readers, I set up my tripod in 40 degree weather to get this shot. Brrr. Yes I’m not smiling, I was COLD!

But, with a little accessorizing, this little black dress will span you across all four seasons. It’s been in the 40s/50s in Seattle (yes our winters are really that mild) so I paired my little black dress with a pair of textured sweater tights, my favorite Dansko black heeled boots, a killer corduroy jacket and some a brightly colored scarf and some jewelry.

I also found this simple red cardigan on Amazon that I ordered to go with it – I’ll just slip on my red patent mary janes and I’ll be good to go for Valentine’s Day. Keep an eye out on Instagram – I’ll share a piccy when my cardigan arrives!

The “Knot Your Mother’s Dress” from Monroe and Main comes in 5 fabulous colors! You can get it in black, like me, or one of four cheerful spring colors.
