Forget the stove top. Use your stand mixer to make your favorite homemade play dough recipe. It's so much easier to let your stand mixer do the work for you!
With summer vacation on the horizon, I'm looking for fun things for the kids to do. I just got a new stand mixer that's simple enough for Quincy to use (with help) so making our own salt dough recipe seemed so obvious.
Easy Homemade Play Dough Recipe
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
2 tablespoon cream of tartar
1 cup salt
2 tablespoon oil
2 ½ cups boiling water
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients in stand mixer bowl. Add oil and boiling water (be careful!). run the mixer for about 5 minutes using the dough hook. If you want colored play dough, add food coloring to the hot water prior to mixing.
If you want, you can add coloring to the dough by hand and knead it in, but it may take longer to produce an even color and be a little messy. For convenience, I chose not to color the dough, but don't let that stop you.
Break out some cookie cutters and a rolling pin, and have some fun.
The best part? It's so easy to make when we were done playing I just popped it in the yard waste bin!

This is a great idea, unfortunately my girls are college age and would want nothing to do with this. I think it's a great idea and will pass it along.
