When I invited my friends over earlier this week for a Friday afternoon coffee play date, I panicked a little when it rained all day Thursday. My plans of a sunny day in the yard with kids playing went out the window.

I had to change my play date strategy a little but at least getting our snacks was easy! Our local Safeway is right up the street so I headed there to get Gevalia coffee, some treats from the bakery and a fruit platter. I love how convenient Safeway is and what a great selection they have! We have some friends that are Gluten Free and not only does Safeway have a designated Gluten Free section, but they also label items through-out the store. It makes it really easy to make sure everyone has treats!

The rich, never bitter taste of Gevalia comes in a variety of flavors and roasts, most of which are available at Safeway. Gevalia began brewing coffee in Gavle, Sweden in 1853, where traditional cast-iron roasting developed its distinctively rich, smooth taste that’s never bitter.I loved that my Safeway had both ground and whole bean options too – I prefer to grind my own coffee, so this was a real plus!

I greeted my friends with freshly brewed coffee, and a array of yummy treats. Since the backyard was a bit wet from the rain on Thursday, we hung out in my living room watching Disney movies and snuggling with my new baby, Edison. Since there was still a chill in the air from the day before, our treats warmed our bellies and the kids made quick work of the fruit tray – they devoured it!

I guess it was a good thing we stayed indoors, as I may have found a mother’s helper or two for the summer (win!) – my friend Rebecca’s daughters loved snuggling and holding Edison! A real plus for me!

So despite the change in plans, everyone still had a nice time – and the real bonus? If we had spent the afternoon outside and needed more treats? Safeway is just minutes away!

I think Gevalia is my favorite coffee right now. I received two free k-cups in the mail not too long ago, and I couldn’t believe how good it was. I have a grounds sample right now too, which I’m planning to use with my eko cup so I can make it in my Keurig. I was never very good at figuring out a regular coffee machine, so the Keurig is perfect for me.

We love Gevalia! It’s one of the first coffee brands I started purchasing back when they were mail order only. My playdates aren’t complete without it! Love that we can purchase them at the store now.
